what is a 5 a day portion?
Here are some general guidelines for your 5 A Day portions.
- 1 medium-sized piece of fruit e.g. banana, apple or orange
- 1 cup of raw leafy vegetables or salad e.g. lettuce or spinach
- 1/2 cup of fresh fruit or canned fruit
- 1/2 cup cooked or canned vegetables
- 150ml 100% fruit juice
- 150ml 100% vegetable juice
- 1/4 cup dried fruit e.g. raisins, dried apricots or prunes
- 1/2 cup cooked or canned beans, peas or lentils
As you can see, the serving sizes are quite small, which means eating 5 A Day is easy!
