what is a 5 a day portion?

Here are some general guidelines for your 5 A Day portions.

  • 1 medium-sized piece of fruit e.g. banana, apple or orange
  • 1 cup of raw leafy vegetables or salad e.g. lettuce or spinach
  • 1/2 cup of fresh fruit or canned fruit
  • 1/2 cup cooked or canned vegetables
  • 150ml 100% fruit juice
  • 150ml 100% vegetable juice
  • 1/4 cup dried fruit e.g. raisins, dried apricots or prunes
  • 1/2 cup cooked or canned beans, peas or lentils

As you can see, the serving sizes are quite small, which means eating 5 A Day is easy!
